Jeff Hanson

A Visionary Force in the Music Industry

Jeff Hanson - Music Executive, Founder of Silent Majority Group

Jeff Hanson, a luminary in the music industry, stands as an artist and producer manager with a profound impact on the trajectory of iconic bands and artists. Based in Winter Garden, FL, his journey began in the vibrant music scene of Tallahassee, Florida, where he started as a classic alternative DJ, club owner, and concert promoter.

In 1997, Hanson founded JHMP Management, marking the inception of a career that would shape the destinies of numerous musical talents. His keen eye for potential led him to discover Creed in December 1997 when they played at Floyd's Music Store. Hanson promptly signed Creed to his artist management company, managing them from obscurity to selling over 40 million records worldwide.

The founding of JHMP in 1996 marked the beginning of a prolific career. Hanson ventured into artist development, A&R, and management, handling major names such as Sevendust, Alterbridge, and Paramore including a brief stint as the first manager of a then 15-year-old Taylor Swift who was brought into JHMP by one of Jeff Hanson's staff who managed Taylor under the JHMP umbrella. His diverse portfolio expanded further with the formation of Silent Majority Group in 2006, an independent label based in Orlando, Florida and distributed by Warner Music Group.

Hanson's entrepreneurial spirit and knack for talent continued to shine as he facilitated partnerships with major labels, including Island Def Jam and Warner Brothers Records. He pioneered the first 360 deal in the US music industry, between Paramore and Atlantic Records, transforming the landscape of label's participation in artists' careers.

The Silent Majority Group became a powerhouse, releasing albums from acclaimed artists like Framing Hanley, Candlebox, Tantric, Brother Sundance, and Blacklite District. The label's success was further solidified with Platinum certifications and commercial triumphs.

In 2012, Hanson, along with Paramore EP producer Peter Thornton, founded "Plush" studios in Orlando. This endeavor led to the discovery and development of multi-platinum artist Chris Daughtry prior to and during his fourth-place finish on The Voice.

Despite facing personal challenges, including a diagnosis of stage 4 head/neck cancer in 2016, Hanson's resilience remained unwavering. Post-cancer, Hanson continued to make significant contributions to the industry. His involvement with Brother Sundance and the partnership with Warner Brothers Records attested to his ongoing commitment to nurturing emerging talents.

Recent years have seen JHMP / SMG expanding its roster and services, with Hanson's A&R credits boasting notable albums and approaching sales of 40 million, including the Diamond award-winning "Human Clay" by Creed.

Beyond his professional achievements, Hanson's philanthropic endeavors, such as being named the Orlando Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Man of the Year" in 2000, showcase his commitment to making a positive impact.

Educated at Florida State University and the son of 60's folk singer Bill Hanson, Jeff Hanson continues to shape the industry through SMG, a consulting company prioritizing artists' success while maintaining their rightful compensation. His name resonates with innovation, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to the artistry that defines a generation.
